Duties:

1. Follows all policies, procedures and standards for Life Enrichment.

2. Develops and maintains effective relationships and two-way communication with residents and resident representatives; observes residents for significant changes and adverse reactions or conditions on an on-going basis and submits information for resident records on an informative and timely basis.

3. Keeps the Life Enrichment Director informed regarding any unusual incidents or issues regarding residents, team members, or the community.

4. Follows changes as directed by the Life Enrichment Director in a timely and accurate manner.

5. Prepares for the shift by reviewing information/reports and setting up the work area(s) in a timely manner.

6. Meets with administration, medical and nursing teams, and other related departments in planning activities.

7. Fulfills responsibilities for assisting and enhancing the resident activity program to provide social stimulation and social interaction, as well as spiritual enhancement among residents and team.

8. Assists in developing a written plan of monthly activities and publishing a monthly activities calendar.

9. Cultivates leisure time activities such as games, arts, crafts, movies, etc.

10. Assists in developing activities which enhance physical exercise such as bowling, walks, etc.

11. Leads daily exercise classes for residents and provides hydration afterwards.

12. Assists in coordinating special events with marketing.

13. Assists with maintaining and storing inventory and supplies in a designated area with clear and labeled bins, ensuring easy access by team members.

14. Keeps the work areas organized in a safe, neat and orderly manner throughout the program and at its conclusion.

15. Assists in gaining team assistance and participation with programs.

16. Helps coordinate in-house special events open to families and friends, e.g., special parties, holiday meals, etc.

17. Assists in decorating community with a monthly theme.

18. Assists in assessing and updating the residents\xe2\x80\x99 lifestyle needs and set measurable goals with observable approaches.

19. Involves the resident\xe2\x80\x99s family in planning activities when possible.

20. Assists in maintaining and enhancing the volunteer program and the training and support of volunteers.

21. Encourages hobbies and crafts and assists in preparing materials.

22. Assists in compiling and maintaining an activity schedule, available projects, crafts, resources, etc.

23. Assists in obtaining information concerning the residents\xe2\x80\x99 backgrounds to better provide activities to meet their needs.

24. Assists in providing library service for residents through cooperation with the local library.

25. Drives bus to activities and appointments.

26. Assists with coordination of transportation for residents in conjunction with the Health and Wellness director.

27. Assists in keeping Life Enrichment within budget by controlling waste.

28. Assists other departments with programming and activities as needed.

29. Notifies the Life Enrichment Director when supplies are needed.

Additional Duties:

30. Works beyond normal working hours and days and in other positions temporarily, as necessary for effective resident care and community operation.

31. Assists with community special events, including outreach to the greater community.

32. Lives the Dominion Senior Living culture in all aspects of the position; demonstrates the Dominion Senior Living \xe2\x80\x9cL.O.V.E.\xe2\x80\x9d model and professionalism when interacting with residents, resident representatives, team members, and the general public.

33. Engages in open communication within Dining Services and between community departments and is cooperative.

34. Attends and actively participates in team meetings and required or optional continuing education programs.

35. Assists in the evacuation of residents as necessary.

36. Maintains the confidentiality of all resident information and honors the residents\xe2\x80\x99 personal property rights.

37. Maintains a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.

38. Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Executive Director or Central Services.

Education, Experience, Licensure/Certification, Age Requirement:

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. A minimum of one year\xe2\x80\x99s experience working with seniors is preferred.

3. Must have creative aptitude for training in arts, crafts, and games.

4. Must possess a current and valid driver\'s license and have the ability to meet approved driver requirements.

5. Approved criminal background check, physical, drug screen and TB skin test is required.

6. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member regularly stands, bends, talks, hears, walks, sits, climbs stairs, stoops, uses hands and fingers to touch, handle, and feel, reaches with hands and arms, lifts and/or moves items of up to 50 pounds. The team member occasionally lifts and transfers residents, using proper body mechanics and physically assists residents in and out of into and out of wheelchairs, beds, stretchers, stationary chairs and vehicles as needed. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The team member must be able to smell odor in order to ensure resident safety and quality care.

Work Environment:

The team member works primarily in the common areas of the community, which are well-lit and ventilated. The team member can be subject to frequent interruptions. The team member is potentially exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
