Responsibilities
Principle Duties
The Legal Services Coordinator will:
Liaison with the courts and Attorney General's office
Supervision of Legal Administrative Secretaries
Oversee competency evaluation process for the state of Utah
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance related to civil and criminal commitments
Attend virtual court hearings
Track all court dates
Staff with treatment team and attorney general representative weekly, or as needed, for legal intervention, e.g., legal issues argued, clarified, motions filed, etc.
Attend necessary court hearings, e.g., court requests an in-person update
File papers with the court (not legal pleadings), such as update letters, competency reports, etc.
Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate
Basic working knowledge and understanding of court procedures and laws surrounding competency and civil commitment laws
Proficient in use of computer programs
Advanced organizational and interpersonal skill
Will be very proficient with Microsoft Office Programs.
Will have a basic working knowledge of the forensic mental health legal system.
Will have a basic working knowledge of forensic legal processes, procedures, and terminology.
