Description
Performs a wide variety of legal clerical work in support of staff attorneys to include preparing, checking and processing legal forms, documents and related materials, locating and abstracting information from legal files and records, and gathering and organizing relevant material for use in legal proceedings; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
These classes differ from the Legal Clerk I in that the Legal Clerk II and III independently perform a wide variety of legal clerical work in support of staff attorneys; whereas the Legal Clerk I performs routine, standardized legal clerical work in preparing, typing, maintaining and processing legal forms, documents and related materials and, in addition, assists in the more difficult tasks under closer supervision for the purpose of training.
Grade Level Standards:
Grade III: This level is characterized by its responsibility for independently performing the full range and variety of legal clerical work, including the more difficult assignments, in support of legal activities of an assigned section.
