We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to join our team. This pivotal role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and team coordination. As a Lead Veterinary Technician, you will oversee daily technical operations, mentor junior staff, and support veterinarians in delivering exceptional pet healthcare. Your leadership and comprehensive knowledge will help create a positive environment where animals receive compassionate, expert treatment and clients feel confident in our care.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Train and mentor team members on best practices, proper restraint techniques, and use of veterinary equipment.
Ensure the proper handling of animals during intake, treatment, and discharge while demonstrating excellent animal handling skills.
Assist veterinarians with procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, laboratory testing, and dentals/surgery.
Support critical care cases by monitoring vital signs and anesthesia, administering medications, and assisting in emergency procedures.
Oversee laboratory procedures including sample collection, processing, and analysis to assist in accurate diagnosis.
Manage diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray and ultrasound.
Provide pet care services including grooming, feeding, and handling dogs and other animals with patience and professionalism.
Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
Qualifications
RVT certification
Proven experience as a veterinary technician with leadership responsibilities preferred.
Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices.
Experience with kennel management, pet grooming, and animal restraint techniques.
Proficiency in laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, aseptic technique, and veterinary critical care practices.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinarians, staff members, and pet owners.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team while maintaining high standards of animal welfare and client service.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37 - 40 per week
