Purpose

The Deputy Onshore Package Manager will assist in the management of the substation, underground transmission line and horizontal directional drilling contracts throughout the project life cycle (design, tendering, construction, commissioning, and handover to O&M) for the Commonwealth Wind Project and Park City Wind Project. Principal activities will be the development, implementation and management of the key contracts, interfaces and stakeholder engagement for the projects.

The role would require the day-to-day coordination with development, procurement, engineering, transmission and interconnection team, contract management, PMO, construction, commissioning, O&M to capture, analyse risk in the project programs and communicate this information in a meaningful way to the larger project team. The role reports to the Onshore Package Manager and Grid Department Director.

Coordinating and managing inputs external and internal stakeholders and effectively managing multiple business drivers in a high pressure and dynamic business is essential. It is therefore essential the successful candidate is able to establish, foster and maintain team spirit and morale through periods of intense workload and activity.

Responsibilities

  • Experience within a delivery orientated environment for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the onshore works of an offshore wind project through the pre-delivery, delivery and operation transition phases.
  • Significant \xe2\x80\x9chands-on experience\xe2\x80\x9d within a delivery project management environment ideally in a commercially focused utility service and/or delivery business.
  • Experience working closely with development and permitting leads in contributing to permit filings, testimony and participating in public meetings.
  • Experience dealing with federal, state, local regulatory authorities and requirements and ensuring project compliance
  • High degree of competency in future planning. Proven experience in delivery and contracting management and programming.
  • Significant experience in leading tendering processes, contract negotiations and detailed commercial delivery contracts for owner supplied equipment, enabling contracts, and balance of plant contracts.
  • Experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental regulations associated with delivery of onshore works.
  • Proactive people manager, leader and motivator.
  • Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with Project Directors and Senior Management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business.
  • Ability to work, manage teams and manage decision making process under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and see/ anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.

  • Organise and manage teams for the delivery of the packages and project.
  • Advice on the impact of technical/specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended.
  • Balance technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, taking into account all relevant risks.
  • Ensure that all recommendations are documented and sufficient due diligence exists to support decisions (whether internal or external diligence).
Skills and Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 to 8 years of experience working in utility or renewables industry.
  • Proven experience managing large packages
  • Experience working on large, complex power projects.
  • Experience leading and interacting with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited university, preferably electrical or civil engineering discipline
  • PE, PMP, or Chartered Engineer preferred.
