Job Description


Role Overview The Medical Reception Lead will be responsible with the assisting of overseeing daily operations of the reception and switchboard areas in their location. This position will coordinate work activities to ensure efficient and maximum workflow. The Medical Reception Lead is also expected to work with the other leads and supervisors for efficient operations and increased work quality. The Medical Reception Lead will also be responsible for assistance in training and implementation of new policies and procedures.
Essential Functions

  • Assist with overseeing of the following:
    • Patients check in and out
    • Appointment scheduling and recalls
    • Cash collection and payment posting
    • Obtaining correct patient information
    • End of day reconciliation
    • Product and procedure knowledge and sales
    • Mail and fax distribution / postage
    • Medical records
    • Switchboard operations
    • Scanning patient information
    • Referrals
    • Messages and To-Dos
  • Communicates with the departments and on reception and switchboard issues and activities
  • Helps to resolves reception and switchboard issues, in conjunction with the other leads and the Medical Reception Supervisor
  • Assists with the development policies, and procedures for medical receptionists and phone operators
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, and streamline work processes
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of patient billing and upfront collections
  • Knowledge of and products and services offered
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of switchboard operations including, call varieties, phone scripts, referral process, call triaging, and messaging system
  • Ensures adequate staffing, provides coverage when needed
  • Treats all patients and other staff members with dignity and respect
  • Other duties as assigned by the Medical Reception Supervisor, the Practice Administrator, and providers

Qualifications
  • High level of computer skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Customer Service Preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in a dermatology office
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 pounds
  • May be required to stand for long periods of the day
