Middle River Aerostructure Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of thrust reversers (the braking system on a jet engine), engine nacelle components and specialized aerostructures. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland\'s Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.7-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres \xe2\x80\x93 where the company and its predecessors have designed, built and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 90 years. In 2019, MRAS was acquired by ST Engineering North America, the U.S. affiliate of Singapore-based ST Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 becoming a part of its global network of aerospace facilities and offices. With the ownership change, the company was renamed Middle River Aerostructure Systems.

Role Summary/Purpose

The role provides technical expertise in communicating manufacturing philosophy for Nacelles and Aerostrutcure components. In this role you will utilize your Assembly experience and expertise to solve problems, develop tool philosophies and support design and fabrication of tooling. Additionally, you will drive Design for Manufacturing philosophies into the component designs and execute objectives for self and others.

Essential Responsibilities

\xc2\xb7 Support Technology Initiatives associated with assembly manufacturing and share best practices with team

\xc2\xb7 Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets

\xc2\xb7 Provide daily direction to both hourly and salary manufacturing operation\'s personnel.

\xc2\xb7 Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, create process routing for assemblies .

\xc2\xb7 Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation

\xc2\xb7 Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment

\xc2\xb7 Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment

\xc2\xb7 Support Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and productivity improvements via process changes or improvements

\xc2\xb7 Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation

\xc2\xb7 Support process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the Cell

\xc2\xb7 Attend weekly cross-functional quality sessions and track/drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for Cell issues

Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college with 4 +years of demonstrated work experience in mechanical assembly. Please note 10+ years of work experience may be considered in lieu of degree along with providing technical direction to the hourly work force for assembly operation

\xc2\xb7 Strong oral and written communication skills

\xc2\xb7 Ability to communicate technical detail clearly and concisely

\xc2\xb7 Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications associated with composite part designs

Desired Characteristics

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of mechanical design procedures

\xc2\xb7 Functional Catia V5 knowledge

\xc2\xb7 Lean Manufacturing experience
