Summary

Engineer will work on a team of truly talented individuals and be responsible for design, build and testing (using automation scripts but not limited to unit/integration/performance testing) of Cigna Supplemental Benefits applications and its components that interface with complex enterprise systems and external vendor systems. Engineer will have solid knowledge working with complex distributed applications and passion for technologies by solving data integration challenges. Individual will have zeal and drive to be up to speed with latest development in tech arena.

Engineer must be a highly motivated, well-rounded, team player and self-starter that works best in a collaborative, dynamic, agile environment. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are also essential as this position will interface with remote scrum teams, business owners, enterprise architects, security, infrastructure, and end users via email, phone, IM, desktop sharing, and wiki.

Leadership Skills: Candidate is expected to lead by example, exhibiting technical excellence and development of expert level business domain knowledge. Influences technical direction within the ART and across ARTs. Advocates for a shared technical vision, enables others to act to fulfill the vision. Excellent problem-solving skills and a flair for reverse engineering complex code.

Ensures that solutions adhere to software development best practices and security policies and control standards outlined in the Cigna Information Protection policy

Ensuring any developed solutions are written to be maintainable, scalable, testable, and deployable.

Responsibilities

Lead technical team with strong experience with both Cloud and non-Cloud based technologies, with strong mindset of test-first development.

Leverage existing open-source frameworks, third party components/libraries, Cloud and commercial software to design and develop robust enterprise solutions. Mentality towards integrating and reusing existing capabilities vs building from scratch is highly desired.

Enable a 360-degree view of customer-centric information through integration of a multitude of internal/external systems, mobile apps, devices, and data marts.

Ability to implement test driven development with strong focus on automation testing.

Support and enhance existing Cigna Supplemental Benefits applications used by consumers as well as operations staff.

Participate in all agile ceremonies effectively.

Ability to lead team of mid-level developers.

Skillset

Engineer must have the following skillset to be a successful contributor on the CSB team \xe2\x80\x93

Cloud Based Experience -

Full-stack engineering mindset with a passion for excelling in all areas of the software development life cycle such as analysis, design, development, automated testing, and DevOps.

Strong hands-on design experience and solutioning for Cloud-based applications, that are event-based real-time processing systems that are lean with effective processing timelines.

Strong hands-on experience with Cloud-based development with strong AWS Cloud based technical experience and expertise.

Must have 2+ years of Strong Cloud Development experience with Cloud-first thinking and on-the-job experience working with AWS Cloud Services \xe2\x80\x93 API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, S3, AWS RDS, ECS, Fargate, Route53, KMS, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, VPC, EKS, and other AWS Services

Must have 2+ years of expertise and experience working with Amazon Web Services \xe2\x80\x93 API Gateway, Route53, Load Balancer, S3, Lambda, EC2, Security Groups, Target Groups, Systems Manager \xe2\x80\x93 SSM Connect, Parameter Store, SSM Docs, IAM, Certificate Manager, CloudWatch Alarms, DynamoDB, ElastiCache Redis, AWS Elastic Search (formerly OpenSearch), AWS RDS MySQL & PostgreSQL.

Must have of 1+ years of experience in projects and roles involving experience developing and deploying Cloud Solutions roll outs to Enterprise Production environments.

Preference for experience with Cigna-based Cloud Approaches in development and delivery.

Preference for good in-depth experience with Terraform 12.x, Terragrunt, Docker.

Strong experience handling DevOps aspects \xe2\x80\x93 deploying, server-side troubleshooting. Experience with OpenShift, Jenkins, and other CI/CD Tools to build and deploy to environments.

Non-Cloud based Application Development Experience -

Strong hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying using - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ReactJS, AngularJS, HTML5 over several years.

Must have 8+ years of strong hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying Java-based applications, NodeJS applications, and Python-based applications

Strong experience developing front end applications in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ReactJS, AngularJS, HTML5.

Must have 1+ years of Strong hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying using \xe2\x80\x93 Apache Camel, Fuse.

Good knowledge in REST/SOAP API development and testing.

Must have 5+ years of strong experience with Service Oriented Architecture (event-driven SOA, Web Services, REST, ESB), Message driven architecture (JMS, SOA, Spring).

Must have 5+ years of strong experience using Relational Database, No SQL Database, DynamoDB and Data Modeling, database development & tuning (PL/SQL/XQuery). Experience and proficiency with writing SQLs and understanding of writing complex SQLs.

Hands-on experience with application performance strategies (threading, indexing, clustering, caching).

Preference with .Net API Development Experience -

Strong experience with developing Java latest versions .NET APIs, Microsoft IIS Servers, TFS Deployment tools, Git, GitHub.

Proficiency with using Oracle-based databases, MS SQL Server Database, writing queries at complex levels.

Good to have experience in developing solutions leveraging the Microsoft .Net framework and utilizing ASP.Net, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and C#.

Desirable to have experience with .Net application related design, performance, security, and configuration considerations.

Good to have experience and solid understanding using MS IIS Servers \xe2\x80\x93 using IIS and troubleshooting issues surrounding APIs deployed in IIS Servers.

Agile Experience -

Must have 2+ years of experience working in Agile Scrum team delivering product or solution business value through it.

Must have strong Agile understanding, and work ethics bound with Agile mindset.

Must know and understand the partners in Agile, how the work gets done in Agile team setting.

Works as a member of an Agile Scrum team, delivering business value deployments in sprints.

Solution-first mindset with a zeal to ensure definitions, risks, clarity, and estimates are all aligned for delivery.

Strong delivery mindset with a passion to take accountability and responsibility of the overall solution delivery as a Technology leader.

Test-First Experience -

Strong Test-Driven Development experience from git go within Agile team.

Works with Product Owners, Scrum Master, Business Product Owners and acts as liaison and leader for the team and provides real crisp estimations for the feature refinement, product refinement.

Effectively works with Product Owners and thinks through Use Cases, Test Cases to be baked into the Solution build and delivery.

Actively participates in Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming with a Test-first and solution-first mindset keeping the customer/user in the front and center of the thought process.

Strong experience in development using TDD approach and mindset, and strong experience with popular BDD frameworks such as JBehave, Cucumber using Gherkin.

Qualifications

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred, typically 10+ years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a Must have of 8+ experience application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
