Position Overview



The

Lead Developer / Solutions Architect

will be CDL Legal's primary hands-on builder for technology solutions, with a strong focus on

Salesforce, AI, APIs, and integration tools

.

Roughly

80% of this role is doing the work

: designing and building integrations, automations, and applications that directly support operations, sales, customer service, and leadership. The remaining

20% is strategy and architecture

: helping shape the technology roadmap, making tool and platform recommendations, and ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with business goals.

This role is ideal for a senior-level developer or architect who loves building, enjoys solving complex integration problems, and can also think strategically about how technology can move the business forward.

Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Design & Development (Hands-On - ~80%)



Design, build, and maintain integrations between

Salesforce

, internal systems, third-party platforms, and external partners. Develop and maintain

APIs, webhooks, and data flows

that support core business processes (sales, onboarding, customer support, compliance, and reporting). Configure, customize, and extend

Salesforce

(objects, flows, automation, page layouts, validation, Apex/Lightning - as appropriate to experience). Implement

AI-powered solutions

(e.g., LLM-based assistants, automations, classification, summarization) where they create real business value. Build internal tools, dashboards, and automations to remove manual work and improve team efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across integrations, APIs, and applications, ensuring reliability and performance.

Architecture, Strategy & Roadmap (Vision - ~20%)



Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to

define a practical technology roadmap

that supports company growth and operational excellence. Translate high-level business needs into

technical designs

and clear implementation plans. Evaluate and recommend technologies, integration platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, Mulesoft, Workato, etc.), and AI tools that fit CDL Legal's size, complexity, and budget. Establish standards and best practices for integrations, data flows, documentation, and change management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Work closely with

Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, Sales, and Legal

to understand pain points and design technology solutions that improve both client and employee experience. Clearly communicate technical options, trade-offs, and timelines to non-technical stakeholders. Serve as a "

player/coach

" with external or contract developers--personally owning core work while providing direction and review where needed.

Data, Reporting & Reliability



Design and maintain data flows and structures to support accurate

reporting, analytics, and dashboards

across Salesforce and other systems. Implement and support tools that track

key performance metrics, employee engagement, and customer success outcomes

. Help ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance across critical workflows.

Security, Compliance & Vendor Collaboration



Follow best practices for

data security, permissions, and access controls

within Salesforce and integrated systems. Collaborate with leadership and vendors to support

cybersecurity, compliance, and business continuity

needs. Manage relationships with technology vendors and integration partners as needed, ensuring value and alignment with CDL Legal's goals.

QualificationsEducation & Experience



5+ years

of hands-on software development and/or integration experience.

2+ years

in a role involving solution architecture, technical leadership, or ownership of complex integrations. Proven experience working with

Salesforce

(administrator, developer, or architect-level responsibilities). Experience building and maintaining

API-based integrations

and automation workflows. Experience with

AI tools and platforms

(e.g., OpenAI/LLMs, AI APIs, AI-enabled workflows) is strongly preferred. Experience in the

transportation, logistics, or legal services

industries is a plus but not required.

Technical Expertise



Strong understanding of:

Salesforce

(configuration, automation, data model; development experience is a plus).

APIs, webhooks, REST/JSON

, and integration patterns. One or more

integration platforms

(e.g., Zapier, Make, Workato, Mulesoft, etc.).

AI/ML-powered tools

and how to practically apply them in business workflows. Data management, reporting, and analytics concepts. Experience working with or overseeing

outsourced/nearshore/offshore development partners

is a plus.

Leadership & Communication



Hands-on builder who is also comfortable stepping back to

design architecture and set direction

. Able to explain technical concepts in clear, simple language to non-technical teams. Highly analytical with strong

problem-solving

and

project management
