This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.

The Lead Monitor is responsible for carrying out all of the responsibilities of operating Colgate\'s primary & seasonal recreational facilities during the late afternoon and weeknight hours throughout the year on an as needed basis. Primary responsibilities are to provide supervisory oversight to the recreation facilities including Huntington, Trudy Fitness Center & Lineberry Pool. Assisting in daily Cage operations as needed and management of seasonal facilities.
Accountabilities

  • Open and secure buildings and unlock/lock facilities and rooms within whenever necessary.
  • Provide point of emergency contact if Campus Safety or ambulance is needed.
  • Launder and disburse towels of faculty, staff, and members as per policy. Launder gear for OERC and clothing for swim teams, rowing teams, intramurals and club sports.
  • Maintain an orderly system and control for the check in/out of all user items & lost/found items. Including key rings, rental equipment, and club sports & intramural equipment.
  • Provide preventative maintenance support for all facility equipment and machines which includes but is not limited to, cardio & strength machines, basketball hoops, group fitness cycles, and rental equipment.
  • Abide by and enforce all recreation and university policies.
  • Carry out other assignments as needed and requested by the Assistant Director of Recreation Facilities.
Requirements

Professional Experience/ Qualifications
  • Experience working in a recreation setting.
  • Proficient computer skills including; Microsoft Excel, internet, and Google (Drive, Documents, E-Mail and Calendars).
  • Demonstrated ability of working with computers for 6 months or more. Ability to operate a cash register and handle money.
  • Working knowledge of repairing a broad spectrum of machines and equipment.
  • Qualifications include the ability to effectively meet and deal with the public, ability to communicate verbally and in writing, ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of following through on assignments and duties assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Education

Highschool diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, be on feet for extended period of time.
