SUMMARY



The Lead Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, products, and services for our organization. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of procurement processes.

Duties and Responsibilities



The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products and services Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs and specifications Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and supplier performance Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure favorable terms for the organization Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulations related to procurement Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support category management initiatives Utilize root cause analysis techniques to identify areas for improvement in the procurement process

Experience and Education



Minimum



Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role
Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and procedures
Proficient in using procurement systems and software

Preferred



Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) is preferred

Working Conditions



Office setting (95% of the time)
Will gather information in a heavy industrial environment (<5%). The plant conditions will require: work around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment, work at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces, exposure to heat, cold, noise, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, chemicals, and inclement weather conditions.
