JOB SUMMARY



The Lead Ambassador at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for managing and optimizing patient and visitor transport processes and service provision. The Lead Ambassador serves a vital role in mentoring and guiding other Ambassadors/Concierge team members in their patient-facing position and uses strong communication and organization skills to engage with a diverse array of people, orchestrate daily Ambassador Services activities, adapt to service needs, and monitor maintenance of all transport equipment to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient transportation.

FUNCTIONS



Leadership:

Assists with developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating the patient transportation system/processes within North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC).


Supervision:

Assists with planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the daily activities of Ambassador Services. Assists with managing, overseeing, coaching, and evaluating the Ambassador, Concierge and Dispatcher staff.


Customer Service:

Greets internal/external customers and visitors professionally and courteously. Assists patient in and out of wheelchair if necessary. Ensures maintenance of wheelchairs, stretchers, etc., in a clean and sanitary condition as well as proper working order. Performs other duties as assigned or required to allow for the smooth and efficient operation of the transportation service.


Communication:

Communicates effectively with staff, patients/family members, visitors, and the general public. Education/Training. Educates/trains staff as needed/required.


Budget:

Complies with departmental budget.


Patient Care:
Assist with the transport of patients requiring oxygen and IV therapy. Ensure the safe and proper handling of oxygen tanks and IV equipment during transport. Monitor patients' conditions during transport and report any changes to the nursing staff. Provide comfort and reassurance to patients during transport.


Regulatory:

+ Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
+ Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues.

QUALIFICATIONS





Education


High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent. Required Associate's Degree in Business or related field. Preferred


Licenses and Certifications


DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State


Work Experience


1-3 years. At least 2 years of leadership and/or supervisory experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Required


Knowledge Skills and Abilities


Working knowledge of office equipment (i.e. telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.); required Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook); required Strong technical, organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills; required Demonstrated knowledge/skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics; required Excellent interpersonal skills; required Coordinates the daily activities of Ambassador Services Prioritizes and organizes tasks/requests to ensure timely completion Coordinates work processes to ensure efficient methods Assists customers efficiently and courteously Assists with the training and development of staff Ensures adequate staffing coverage in Interacts daily with: Ambassador Services Staff, patients/family members, visitors, and other North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS)/NMMC Staff Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills Reflects a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff and the public we serve
