The agency is seeking 3 highly qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Aide 3 within the Fulton County Board of Health in Nursing Administration.

Job Responsibilities

Under broad supervision, assists technicians and laboratory scientists with data or specimen collection and laboratory procedures. Provides support and services in fields such as agriculture, environmental science, resource management, biology and health sciences.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cleans, maintains, and prepares supplies and work areas
  • Collects information and/or samples, such as blood, water, soil, plants, food, and animals
  • Conducts or may assist with standardized tests and laboratory analyses
  • Follows and/or ensures compliance with set standards
  • Prepares samples or specimens for testing
  • Receives and logs samples into laboratory information systems
  • Schedules and performs standard tests and analysis
  • Sets up, cleans, and maintains laboratory and field equipment
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Uses computers, computer-interfaced equipment, robotics, and high technology industrial applications to perform work duties
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of related experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Laboratory Aide 2 (LSS011) or position equivalent.

Requires the ability to do so within the context of existing organizational theories and management principles.
Human Interaction: Requires the ability to function in a managerial capacity for a division or organizational unit; includes the ability to make decisions on procedural and technical levels.
Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate and control the actions of equipment and machinery, requiring the monitoring, adjustment, regulation, and/or setting of multiple conditions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory, and/or design data and information.
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform moderately complex algebraic and geometric operations; ability to utilize principles of basic probability and statistical inference.
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions; deal with concrete and abstract variables; and analyze major problems that require complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in critical and/or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization.
