Lab Technician

Job Description


Performs general operationalassistance in the laboratory. This person will assist in day-to-day laboratoryfunctions under direct supervision including experiment execution, recordkeeping, order placement and tracking, maintaining lab equipment, andpreparation of shared laboratory reagents.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively,both written and verbally.
  • Ability to use a PC or Mac computerand Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • To create instruction material,reports and equipment brochures.
  • Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Familiarity with the operations ofbasic laboratory equipment; ability to troubleshoot minor malfunctions of scientificequipment holdings.
  • Excellent record keeping and filemaintenance skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with mice on a dailyto weekly basis.
  • Proficient in working with databases.
  • Ability to work on projects under thesupervision of the PI.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma/equivalent and 1year of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of lab experience or collegelevel science courses.
