Wednesday-Sunday 10am-6pm



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



As a Food Production Assistant at Good Samaritan Shelter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional coffee experiences and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen areas. You will also play a crucial role in training and mentoring clients, empowering them with valuable job skills in coffee preparation, customer service, and kitchen operations. Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

Assist with stocking and inventory management, ensuring all supplies are readily available. Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation. Lead training sessions for clients and volunteers on coffee and kitchen preparation and service standards. Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members and clients. Lead training sessions for clients and volunteers on food preparation, equipment usage, and service standards. Coordinate with shelter staff to tailor training programs to meet the specific needs and goals of clients, ensuring they gain practical and marketable skills. Assess clients' progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their barista and customer service skills. Assist in kitchen duties, including: Preparing and assembling food items. Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas. Washing dishes and ensuring all kitchenware is properly stored. Monitoring and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. Assisting in the restocking of ingredients and supplies.

Experience in a homeless services setting: Prior experience working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness or substance abuse can provide valuable insight and knowledge. Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with shelter residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Crisis intervention skills: Capacity to handle crisis situations and de-escalate conflicts. Empathy and compassion: Demonstrating genuine care and understanding for individuals experiencing homelessness. Ability to work in a team: Collaboration and cooperation with other shelter staff, volunteers, and external agencies. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Google)
A Farm Transporter plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of farm produce to various programs, markets, or other locations. This position involves handling and transporting a variety of agricultural products, such as fruits, vegetables, etc from the farm to designated destinations. Farm Transporters are essential in ensuring the freshness and quality.

Safely load and secure farm produce onto transportation vehicles to prevent damage during transit. Follow safety protocols when unloading products at the destination. Drive designated vehicles, such as trucks, vans, or trailers, to transport farm produce to various destinations, including programs and farmers' markets.. Efficiently plan transportation routes to ensure on-time delivery and reduce transportation costs. Consider factors like traffic and weather conditions, for optimal route selection. Handle farm produce with care to maintain its freshness and quality during transportation. Implement proper storage and maintenance practices to prevent spoilage or damage. Conduct routine inspections of transportation vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including delivery schedules, quantities, and any incidents or delays. Adhere to safety regulations, including vehicle operation, load securing, and food safety standards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation laws. Foster open and clear communication with farm managers, program coordinators, and other staff. Coordinate deliveries, address concerns, and provide timely updates on transportation progress. Setting up and dismantling farmers market booths. Manage financial transactions on behalf of the organization at the farmers market. Responsibilities include weighing produce and assembling boxes for delivery to GSS programs. Ensure the market area is clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout the day. Interact professionally with program representatives, farmers' market vendors, and other stakeholders. Deliver excellent customer service and represent the farm positively to build strong relationships. Responsible for promptly notifying the manager of any work orders that need to be submitted or supplies that need to be ordered. Responsible for attending staff meetings, ensuring timely completion of training, and accurately completing timecards. Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:



Employment Eligibility Verification

Negative Tuberculosis Test:



Must provide documentation of a recent negative tuberculosis (TB) test result to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Background Screening:



Successful completion of a comprehensive background screening, which may include criminal record checks, employment history verification, and reference checks.

Pre-Employment Drug Screening:



Must pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a drug-free workplace. A negative drug test result is required.
