This position is currently undergoing review as a part of the Juvenile Justice Officer job class study and therefore both the title and the pay range assigned may be subject to change upon the completion of the

study.

The Fairbanks Youth Facility is recruiting to fill three (3) On-Call Non-Permanent

Juvenile Justice Officer 1 positions.

What you will be doing

You will work with juvenile offenders and their families through therapeutic programs that incorporate the restorative justice approach to community protection, offender accountability, and competency development. You will build relationships with the youth and use these relationships to deliver skills through groups such as anger management, drug and alcohol education, life skills and victim impact. You will ensure the security of residents, visitors, staff, and facility buildings during assigned shifts.

The working environment you can expect

This position is located at the Fairbanks Youth Facility on Wilbur Street in Fairbanks. As a member of a Unit\'s security team on a 24 hour unit you will work shiftwork, holidays, weekends and occasional overtime.

Minimum Qualifications

Juvenile Justice Officer 1

A high school diploma or GED.
AND
Must be 20 years of age or older.

Special Note:
Prior to initial appointment, successful candidates for the Juvenile Justice Officer series and Juvenile Justice Unit Supervisor positions are subject to a background investigation, criminal record check, and medical examination to determine the essential duties of the position can be safely performed.

A valid driver\'s license is required at the time of appointment.
