POSITION SUMMARY:

HCI Architecture is seeking a Junior Architect to join our full-service design team of architects and interior designers. HCIA offers a unique office culture and dynamic, undertaking various exciting projects emphasizing multifamily and affordable housing, historic adaptive reuse, and design-build project delivery. Daily responsibilities will include design and construction documents, architectural detailing, site visits, client interaction, and coordination with design and construction teams.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently undertakes a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard architectural techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project
  • Performs design layouts and features which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work
  • Works independently under the Project Architects in all aspects of development and design, including programming, code compliance, schematic design, design coordination, construction documents, construction administration, and general project management
  • Researches and evaluates project requirements about building codes in conjunction with cost estimates by contractors
  • Analyzes proposed design, specific building components, and budget constraints with Senior Architects and construction personnel
  • Prepares detailed REVIT/AutoCAD construction drawings for all design components of a project
  • Coordinates independent work, specific tasks, and details with that of others on the project
  • Revises plans according to the Project Architect\xe2\x80\x99s instructions
  • Assists Design Director and Interior Designers with the preparation of presentation graphics
  • Assists in final document checking and coordination of appropriate disciplines
  • Assist Project Architect with Construction Phase Services, including review of submittals and shop drawings
  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
  • Maintains plans and field notes and monitors any changes in plans. Issues drawing revisions to the contractor during construction



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Architecture degree
  • 3-5 years experience in an architectural design firm
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment and proficient in written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction standards, building codes, materials, and processes
  • Ability to independently develop and coordinate construction document details
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and shows attention to detail
  • Historic rehabilitation and multi-family experience, preferred
