About the Role

We are seeking an experienced

IT Technical Project Manager

to support our client, the

Port of Long Beach

, in overseeing and coordinating multiple IT initiatives across infrastructure, security, and operations teams. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments and enjoys bridging technical and business needs to ensure successful project delivery.

This is a

remote position

with

occasional travel

to Long Beach, CA for meetings, workshops, and on-site coordination. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to critical IT programs such as business continuity planning, cybersecurity initiatives, and enterprise infrastructure modernization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead multiple technical projects from planning through completion, ensuring scope, timeline, and quality objectives are met. Oversee a portfolio of IT initiatives, maintaining visibility into interdependencies, risks, and overall project health. Coordinate across IT teams including Infrastructure Operations, NOC, SOC, and Security to ensure alignment. Develop and maintain project documentation including charters, schedules, and RAID logs. Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and progress. Manage vendor deliverables and support procurement and governance processes. Identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience managing IT infrastructure or cybersecurity projects. Strong background in project delivery, portfolio oversight, and cross-team coordination. Technical fluency across infrastructure, networking, security, and enterprise systems. Proficient in Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, Teams, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification. Experience working in government or large enterprise IT environments. Familiarity with business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud environments. Knowledge of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and tools such as SIEM or Intune.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, standard business hours (Pacific Time).

Location:

Remote work with travel as needed to Long Beach, CA.
