Duties
  • Serves as an expert in the furnishing of technical information, assistance and advice dealing with the implementation and integration of diverse technically complex systems as they relate to the successful operation of modern printing/publishing.
  • Manages PACE server databases involving planning, development, implementation, and administration of systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data. Analyzes and defines data requirements and specification.
  • Managing eProductivity Software (EFI) Pace PostgreSQL object-relational databases, including administration, analysis, navigation, maintaining data integrity, and managing security settings, user permissions and files.
  • Designs, normalizes, develops, installs, and implements databases; maintains, monitors, performance tuning, backup, and recovery of databases. Installs, configures, and maintains database management systems software.
  • Analyzes and plans for anticipated changes in data capacity requirements; develops and administers data standards, policies, and procedures; develops and implements data mining and data warehousing programs.
  • Coordinates with other organizations to accomplish goals and integrate simultaneous project activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for the IT Specialist (DATAMGT), GS -2210-13, you must possess the basic qualification requirement specific to this series and grade:

For all 2210 positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. * Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
-AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

To qualify for the IT Specialist (DATAMGT), GS -2210-13, you must meet the following requirements: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-12 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include:
  • Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and IT Specialists;
  • Operating characteristics and the various processes being performed by printing and composition equipment; and
  • Conducting projects to design, develop, implement, and assess systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a suitability, Public Trust. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs. Depending on the type of background investigation required, the security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.
