IT Systems Software Analysis & Programming focuses on programming and Configuration of IT Systems Software (i.e. software for use in operating/controlling hardware and providing a platform for running internal end user/business applications).
The work Includes:
Identifying and analyzing business needs, conducting requirements gathering, and defining scope and objectives for the IT System.
Developing programming specifications, diagrams, and flowcharts.
Writing code in lower-level programming languages to optimize the performance and efficiency of an organization's IT platform/infrastructure Configuring, customizing, diagnosing, and enhancing vendor systems software (e.g., operating systems software and utilities that manage a network, manage memory allocation, manage file storage on hard drives etc.)
Writing diagnostic programs to test integrated software/hardware systems and resolve system faults.
Creating functional and technical documentation of systems software programs and code.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Use prescribed methods and automated tools to develop, debug or document program code for business applications which meets objectives of: design, cost and schedule; user and stakeholder requirements; and quality standards
Install and configure application software
Design, perform or document unit and integration tests of new or modified program code and user procedures; coordinate involvement of users and stakeholders
Manage software releases or documentation updates; observe the organization's procedures for configuration management
Research information technologies of potential benefit to the organization; develop proof-of-concept prototypes as needed
Assist users resolve their problem or perform needed action at the time of contact, whenever possible; otherwise, direct action by appropriate IT support personnel to resolve problems or train users
Modify or document changes to existing program code and data structures to correct errors or change business functionality
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework or certification and three years experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs or four years experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
Preferred Qualifications

IBM midrange minicomputers and peripherals, and personal computers. Education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: RPGIII/IV/ILE, Lotus Notes, AS/400 Query, DFU, COBOL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS) and JAVA
Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Proficiency in Customization and Configuration, Understanding of Data Management and Integration, and Problem-Solving Abilities
Skill in assessing user/stakeholder support needs and implement effective solutions. Establish a good working relationship with co-workers and clients. Work individually and in a team environment. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
