Under the direction of the Senior Intake Case Manager/Court Liaison, the Intake Case Manager Assistant serves as an administrative assistant to the Intake Case Managers and conducts screenings for referred participants and their family members that involves meeting and explaining all rules and conditions of Allen County Community Corrections (ACCC) Home Detention Program. This position is covered as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Screens all referred defendants in the Allen County Jail who are currently incarcerated and awaiting sentencing.
Distributes and reviews all guidelines, rules, and regulations of Allen County Community Corrections (ACCC) Home Detention Program with participants, ensuring paperwork is complete and signed.
Obtains contact information of household member(s) the defendant wishes to reside with, makes contact and schedules a time to review the guidelines, rules, and regulations of the Home Detention Program prior to the defendant's sentencing and/or release from incarceration and meets with defendant's household member(s) to sign the residential consent forms.
Contacts defendant, household member(s) and family after a screening investigation is completed to advise of any issues and/or concerns needing resolved prior to acceptance into the Home Detention Program.
Assists with the defendants' background investigation, as required.
Contacts defendants' employer to verify current employment, determining whether the employment adheres to stated rules and ensures compliance with program rules and regulations.
Files ACCC document with Allen County Misdemeanor and Traffic Court daily.
Escorts defendants from the Allen County Jail to ACCC.
Assists with out of custody screening and defendants' home detention / electronic monitoring intake, as required.
Maintains and updates ACCC's program participants Spillman photos.
Assists with responding to telephone correspondence from participants, outside agencies, staff members and families regarding participant placement information. Directs messages and calls to appropriate staff and documents correspondence when related to participant placement on home detention in designated database.
Collects urine screen specimens from participants, as required.
Notarizes documents.
Performs all other duties as assigned, including overtime as assigned.
Uses principles of evidence-based practices as a guide in interactions with program participants and in the development of department programs.
Completes program participants intakes. Maintains current, accurate case files, including classifying participants according to risk based on IRAS results, recording defendant's behavior and compliance with court's order.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience
One-year experience working in the criminal justice or human services field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of legal terminology and Court proceedings
Ability to use Microsoft Office and job-related software and database programs.
Knowledge of or the ability to learn Indiana Department of Corrections regulations.
Ability to become an Indiana Notary Public
The agency subscribes to the National Institute of Corrections' Eight Principles of Effective Intervention (EBP), must be able to complete required Correctional EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies that focus on empirical recidivism risk reduction strategies.
Knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices.
DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
The Intake Case Manager Assistant performs work that is repetitive, restricted in scope when screening participants and their families about the rules and regulations of the Allen County Community Corrections (ACCC) Home Detention Program. Judgement is needed in when reviewing the rules and regulations of the program.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Intake Case Manager Assistant is responsible for standardized practices when presenting the rules and regulations to participants and their family members regarding the Home Detention Program. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions and guidelines, soundness of judgement and conclusions.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The Intake Case Manager Assistant maintains frequent contact with other County employees, offenders, and their families, outside agencies, and the general public regarding the Home Detention Program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Intake Case Manager Assistant works in and out of an office setting with frequent contact with potentially dangerous, violent, and abusive program participants convicted of various misdemeanor and felony offenses. There is some standing and walking with frequent sitting. Some lifting of up to 40 pounds, bending, reaching overhead and kneeling is required. Frequent mental/visual effort, attention to detail, detailed inspection and typing are to be expected.

HOURS:
Saturdays 8:00am - 1:00pm; Tuesdays 7:15am - 4:45pm; Wednesdays 8:00am - 6:00pm; Thursdays 8:00am - 5:00pm; & Fridays 8:00am - 4:30pm; and/or as assigned; 40 hours/week as assigned; some evening and weekend hours; overtime as required.
