Job Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accurate billing processes, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating smooth patient intake and billing procedures while supporting the overall efficiency of the medical office. Prior experience in managed care, medical office operations, and familiarity with medical coding are highly valued. Duties



Verify patient insurance coverage by contacting insurance providers and reviewing policy details. Ensure accurate collection of patient demographic and insurance information during registration. Review and interpret insurance benefits related to CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and HIPAA compliance requirements. Collaborate with medical staff to confirm coverage for specific procedures and services. Document verification results accurately within the electronic health record (EHR) system. Assist in resolving insurance-related issues to facilitate timely billing and collections. Maintain confidentiality of all medical records and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times. Support office staff with administrative tasks related to insurance processing and patient records management.

Experience



Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred, especially within dental or healthcare practices. Strong knowledge of managed care processes, medical terminology, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10). Familiarity with medical records management and insurance verification procedures. Experience working with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Office experience demonstrating proficiency with administrative tasks and electronic health records systems is desirable. Knowledge of dental office operations is a plus but not required.
