Job Summary

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional Educational Development Director to contribute to the diversity and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals, learners at all levels and staff to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS\'s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underrepresented populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the Educational Development Director will collaborate with CCTS personnel to create instructional materials that will support faculty, staff and career development of a range of learners that are necessary to meet workforce development needs in preparing generations of translational researchers/scientists and research professionals. The Education Development Director will develop, implement and evaluate strategies to utilize information technology to improve the education initiatives within the CCTS, including the development of compelling on-line and hybrid training modules, analyze and design improvements for existing in person and online programs.

Responsibilities for this position include working with the directors of CCTS, faculty and career development and their designates to develop education programming pertinent to a variety of audiences including faculty, professional staff, graduate trainees, student and staff. Developing and instituting the framework and polices for all educational initiatives within the Center.

Successful candidates will possess expertise in instructional design and use of learning platforms and on-line tools. Knowledge of instructional design principles as well as learning capabilities of individuals (intellectual skills, cognitive strategies, motor skills, and attitudes) is essential to promoting best practices in pedagogy and curriculum development.
