The Information Technology Technician will provide necessary support to HVAF employees related to IT needs. They are a systems thinker and complex problem solver who will provide end user support for staff, clients, and volunteers on a variety of both complex and simple equipment. This position would also carry the element of teaching IT interns throughout the year. This would involve planning and implementing lessons according to the IT team's responsibilities, routinely evaluating the interns, and ensuring interns are progressing, while addressing any concerns collaboratively with the intern and the intern's Employment Specialist.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Train, maintain and provide support to Program Staff on desktop, laptop, mobile device, cloud, M365, telephone, and networking issues and troubleshooting.
Drive resolution of end-user support issues to resolve problems and support them in HVAF's mission delivery and program support, including tracking of incidents, problems, and support requests.
Deliver lessons utilizing smart boards and public speaking skills.
Build rapport with interns and staff using interpersonal communication skills, using patience and conflict resolution skills to maintain harmony among interns.
Always follow all HVAF policies and procedures including following confidentiality policy regarding interns and clients served.
Always maintain professionalism with regard to instructor/Student relationship.
Assist VetWorks staff with IT assessments and documentation.
Education/Experience/Skills Preferred
Associates degree (AA) or higher in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a minimum of two (2) years of related IT experience or a combination of at least three (3) years of education and related IT experience
At least three (2) years of experience providing end-user support, demonstrating a commitment.
At least two (2) years of experience administering cloud and server systems (i.e., Microsoft365, Active Directory, or similar systems/services)
At least two (2) years of experience working with network equipment, firewalls, Wi-Fi systems, and telephone systems.
Must be able to complete a background screening with an acceptable outcome.
Must have a valid Indiana driver's license and must be eligible for HVAF's auto insurance at all times during employment.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, gaining, or maintaining certifications, reviewing technical and professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-
of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies.
Customer service oriented.
Must possess problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to establish and rearrange priorities to meet deadlines as assigned.
Able to follow directions and utilize suggestions. Ability to lift, move, and organize items up to 45 pounds.
