Overview

Walker Rehabilitation Center in Carbon Hill, Al is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Infection Preventionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our patients and staff by implementing effective infection control measures. This position requires a strong understanding of epidemiology, infectious disease care, and data management to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA guidelines and best practices. Conduct regular surveillance of infections within the facility, utilizing data management techniques to track trends and outbreaks. Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide education on infection prevention strategies and promote adherence to protocols. Perform patient observations to identify potential risks for infection and recommend appropriate interventions. Participate in research data collection related to infection control initiatives and outcomes. Lead training sessions for staff on infection prevention practices, ensuring a culture of safety within the organization. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging infectious diseases and relevant regulations affecting assisted living environments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field; certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred. Experience in assisted living or healthcare settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set) requirements as they pertain to infection prevention. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence change among diverse teams. Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and provide clear guidance on infection control practices.
