Position Summary

The Infant Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Infant Teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for infants (ages 6 weeks to 18 months). This role assists in daily routines, developmental activities, and classroom care to promote each child's physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the supervision, safety, and well-being of infants at all times. Support the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities that encourage sensory exploration, motor skills, and early learning. Maintain a warm, caring, and responsive relationship with each child. Follow established schedules for feeding, diapering, and napping in accordance with center policies and licensing regulations. Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment. Communicate effectively and respectfully with families and team members. Observe and document children's growth and development as directed by the Lead Teacher. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe environment. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required training sessions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA (Child Development Associate) or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred. Prior experience working with infants in a childcare or early learning setting preferred. Knowledge of child development and safe infant care practices. Ability to lift, carry, and interact with infants (up to 30 lbs). CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability.

Work Environment

This position operates in a childcare classroom environment, requiring frequent movement, interaction with young children, and adherence to safety and hygiene standards.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
