Industrialization and Purchased Parts Quality Director

Mission

The role of the Industrialization and Purchased Parts Quality Director is to ensure, through effective collaboration, leadership, and support, during the APQP process, that the SE overall strategy, corporate standards and customer specifications are continually met during product development within the H&D Business Unit.


Organization structure

The position reports to H&D VP of Customer Satisfaction and Quality. It has no direct reports.

Main responsibilities

The Industrialization and Purchased Parts Quality Director will coach and mentor all project teams globally in H&D, to ensure highest level of quality is achieved in the industrialization phase (Including Suppliers). He or She will be engaged throughout the offer creation process and for all critical launches. In addition, he/she will work with cross functional teams (product engineering, project teams, SME\xe2\x80\x99s), as a facilitator to ensure Quality Systems, tools and processes are utlized ensuring accordance to APQP standards. This role involves coaching, developing, and mentoring personnel internally and externally.

  • Collaborate with cross functional quality, procurement, engineering/industrial personnel, providing support on APQP processes and systems.
  • Ensure assigned programs adhere to the APQP process and required documentation is retained to demonstrate conformance.
  • Monitor progress on program launches for the programs identified as critical.
  • Participate in Gate Reviews for the programs identified as critical.
  • Facilitate and/or promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
  • Participate in meetings with cross functional teams to develop, maintain or update the APQP processes.
  • Communicate and deliver training across H&D for any updates to the APQP system or processes.
  • Conduct audits of the APQP process, system updates, gate reviews and safe launch activities etc within the H&D Division
  • Supports disciplines to resolve customer complaints and concerns during the SOP or Safe Launch period.
  • Report status items and roadblocks to Management and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers providing support during the APQP process as required.
  • Support new business quoting activities with tooling/capital cost information and process assumptions.
  • Prepare and present periodic progress reports and develop action plan to address identified issues.
  • Promote the internal Quality Manual and the external Global Supplier Quality Manual with suppliers, ensuring agreement activities conducted.
  • Support internal Purchasing and Quality (CS&Q) teams during the supplier selection activity.
  • Provide guidance to Procurement and Quality (CS&Q LoB) to build up efficient organization within project development: ASQ staffing.
  • Perform cost evaluations for testing to ensure proper design validation and product validation is conducted along with ensuring required equipment is procured.
  • Build action plans, manage them actively and establish a routine reporting structure towards the organization.
  • Lead or support technical APQP reviews in close collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Contribute and perform feasibility studies at selected global sites.
  • Support Run @ Rates at selected sites or the supplier, including process audits to ensure Production Readiness.
  • Ensure the initiation of the PPAP process (internally and externally) and the product release, taking immediate actions in case of non- conformity.
  • Support organizaton to ensure the certification status/ IATF 16949 compliance.
  • Manages multiple projects among global and regional teams.

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple businesses, geographies, and functions
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English

Qualifications and experiences

  • Post graduate degree / Masters in engineering
  • 10 to 15 year experiences in Quality, preferably in Industrial solutions, automotive/aerospace/defense industries in R&D environment
  • Previous multi-site management experience
  • Previous experience of managing multi-national network
