WVU Parkersburgis a Community and Technical College located in Parkersburg, WV, with a branch in Ripley, WV, and soon to be Vienna, WV (We are not a branch of West Virginia University). This position may require work at our Main Campus in Parkersburg, WV, or at one of our branch locations in Vienna, WV, or Ripley, WV.

Function/Summary
The Human Resources Representative, Benefits Coordinator provides administrative support to the Executive Director, Human Resources and Compliance with frequent exposure to confidential issues and is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine and skilled clerical and administrative tasks in support of the benefits coordination role of the human resources department, including processing transactions using appropriate paper forms and business systems to generate reports and queries appropriate to the specific role.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree or equivalent education and experience
Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
Two years' general office management, personnel, or accounting experience, including minimum of 6-months' human resources experience or human resources-related experience.
Two or more years of Human Resources and/or compensation and benefits experience (preferred)
Licensure:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Requires strict adherence to confidentiality processes and procedures to protect employees' private information at all times.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel or an equivalent.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to do math calculations, process deductions based on tracking dates and accruals and understand schedules to assure proper payroll deductions.
Ability to read and reconcile monthly accounts for benefits deductions.
Ability to maintain a welcoming environment.
Ability to multi-task and work well with others.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive material.
Duties/Responsibilities
Benefits Coordinator (60%)
Serves as a contact for staff and faculty via in-person, telephone, mail, email or any other means for Compensation and Benefit issues.
Prepares and presents information to new hires via a Benefits Orientation. This includes preparation of materials, benefit explanations, questions, enrollment completion and submission in a timely manner, including group presentations as needed.
Enters all initial benefits information into Campus systems and enters corrections as needed.
Communicates all pertinent data to appropriate personnel.
Primary contact for all Open Enrollment and Qualifying Events questions.
Serves as backup on Leave Administration, processing, documentation, and record-keeping.
Maintains accurate records for benefit enrollment, administration, invoicing, etc.
Prepares and presents in-services to staff and faculty as needed.
Explains policies, procedures and guidelines or seeks assistance from the appropriate personnel on various issues.
Completes all benefits data entry into various applications and software systems.
Maintains and updates information in the Human Resources confidential personnel files (paper and electronic).
Stays current with all benefits updates including, but not limited to, medical insurance, Dental insurance, Vision insurance, Life insurance, Disability insurance, Savings accounts, Retirement programs, Workers Compensation and Unemployment compensation.
Assists employees to understand how to maximize the utilization of their benefits.
Primary contact for retirement transitions.
Provides information and assistance to employees to complete the retirement process.
Uploads necessary data to appropriate agencies to ensure a smooth transition to retirement.
Position Management (20%)
Coordinates, prepares, and maintains position descriptions with input from necessary agency personnel.
Utilizes the WV HEPC Classification and Compensation guidelines.
Submits data and communicates with WVU Comp & Class Shared Services as needed.
Administrative Support (15%)
Serves as a contact for all employees and responsible for maintaining a welcoming environment.
Prepares various reports as required for internal and external sources. This will require hands-on knowledge of various applications and software packages.
Prepares and maintains brochures, pamphlets, etc., for communication purposes.
Prepares correspondence as required.
Participates in various salary and wage surveys.
Maintains all forms, handouts, information provided to employees.
General (5%)
Other duties as assigned.
