The HR & Payroll Clerk supports daily HR and payroll operations by maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding, and helping process payroll. This role collects and verifies timesheets, updates employee information, and ensures accuracy and confidentiality in all HR and payroll tasks.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate recruitment activities, including applicant screening, selection, and pre-employment requirements.
Process onboarding, new hire paperwork, and conduct employee orientations.
Assist with company benefits, enrollment forms, open enrollment coordination, and benefit reporting.
Support payroll by processing changes, preparing incentives, and assisting the HR Manager with payroll tasks.
Collect, verify, and follow up on timesheets; manage timekeeping, attendance, and leave balances.
Create timecards for union employees and support accurate, timely payroll submission.
Maintain and update employee personnel files, electronic records, and HR databases.
Provide support to employees regarding HR, payroll, and benefits-related inquiries.
Prepare and organize HR documents, reports, VOEs, and census data.
Other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.
III. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
1 year of experience in Human Resources, payroll, or administrative support preferred.
Strong understanding of basic HR processes, payroll procedures, and employment documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn HRIS/payroll systems.
Strong data entry, accuracy, and organization skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist employees professionally and respectfully.
