ABOUT CRADLES TO CRAYONS:
Cradles to Crayons (C2C), founded in 2002, provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive\xe2\x80\x94at home, at school, and at play. We supply clothing, shoes, diapers, school supplies, and more, free of charge. Our vision is that one day all children will have the essentials they need to thrive. Two in 5 kids in the United States are currently facing Clothing Insecurity, going without basic essentials like pants, shoes, diapers, and school supplies during their critical development years. Three of the top 10 reasons kids miss school are rooted in Clothing Insecurity\xe2\x80\x94just one example of the significant short- and long-term social and economic costs when these needs go unmet. Cradles to Crayons keeps Clothing Insecurity at the core of our mission and is the only large-scale nonprofit organization to focus on this resource gap. Since its founding, Cradles to Crayons has distributed more than three million customized packages of essentials to children in Massachusetts, Greater Philadelphia, Chicagoland, and nationally, through Giving Factory Direct\xe2\x80\x94a first-in-kind online product donation platform launched in 2021. Cradles to Crayons takes a three-pronged approach to mitigating Clothing Insecurity: 1. In-person Engagement\xe2\x80\x94through tens of thousands of children and adults volunteering at our Giving Factory warehouses to sort and package high volumes of new and like-new donations from our communities for our Service Partners to distribute to the children they serve. 2. Online Product Donations\xe2\x80\x94Giving Factory Direct matches product donors directly to children who need the items they have to donate. GFD is currently available in a growing number of communities as we expand our reach nationally. 3. Advocacy and Awareness\xe2\x80\x94Cradles to Crayons is uniquely positioned to raise Clothing Insecurity as a national issue through awareness campaigns, data/evaluation, and legislative outreach. Cradles to Crayons has earned the highest possible rating from Charity Navigator for 13 consecutive years. Only 2% of charities nationwide have received this distinction.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Associate aids with and facilitates human resource processes in all of our markets and on our National team. The HR Associate is responsible for providing support in the areas of payroll administration, recruiting and onboarding, benefits administration, federal and state labor law compliance, maintenance of personnel data, fielding and responding to HR questions as well as assisting with various HR projects and initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model and lead a positive \xe2\x80\x9cOne Cradles\xe2\x80\x9d culture, underpinned by Cradles\xe2\x80\x99 Cultural Values and related behaviors
  • Assist with recruiting and pre-employment functions including, but not limited to sending comp screen emails, conducting phone screen interviews, scheduling follow-up interviews, running references, creating offer letters, moving final candidates through the Paycom Applicant Tracking System, verifying I-9 documents, and coordinating background checks.
  • Support the onboarding of all new team members and staff being promoted or transferring to new positions, including updating Paycom and the C2C Organizational Chart, ordering business cards, swag, and nametags.
  • Partner with the HR Business Partner to prepare and process bi-weekly payroll: checking timecards for accuracy, add earnings, deductions, and other exceptions, and prepare the preview for approval. Participate in payroll-related C2C audit prep and answer auditors\xe2\x80\x99 questions related to payroll. Train new team members and managers on payroll system including timecards, time off requests and approvals, and other system functionality.
  • Assist team members with benefits enrollment process through Paycom, alert C2C broker to new enrollees and send termination notifications to broker on a timely basis. Ensure all benefits changes are processed in payroll.
  • Implement employee engagement programs and initiatives and collaborate with markets regarding HR strategies.
  • Support annual HR initiatives including:
  • Modify Paycom Benefits Management module as needed for open enrollment purposes.
  • Facilitate annual performance appraisal and salary review process by ensuring that Paycom Performance Management module is set up appropriately.
  • Ensure that reviews (manager, self and 360s) as well as goals (performance and development) are uploaded to the system in a timely manner.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field preferred
  • Two years of human resource experience required.

  • Expertise in business systems including Payroll/HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and applicant tracking systems required.

This is a warehouse environment and normal changes in temperature are to be expected while working inside the warehouse or outside, on or around the loading dock. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
