Job/Department Summary:
Under general direction of the Classification Compensation Manager the Human Resources Analyst is a member of the Employment/Classification Compensation Unit of Human Resources. Primary responsibilities and scope of work include conducting classification and salary progression reviews, position description reviews and preparation of them for recruitment, equity analysis studies, and complex report creation and analysis for staff and management positions. The incumbent operates within established policies, procedures and guidelines providing specialized sensitive and confidential analysis and support. Duties require access and input into information that relates directly to grievances, personnel matters, and collective bargaining strategies.
Incumbent will partake in advising and consulting with managers to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable policies and laws regarding position description development and updates and compensation programs. Performs work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature in direct support of the AVP of Human Resources, requiring regular access to information related to collective bargaining negotiations or management strategies, investigations, grievances, and discipline, provides information and guidance to the AVP regarding collective bargaining agreements, and CSU policies, procedures, and practices. Other key duties of this position include administrative support, preparation of complex data reports and documents, in-depth analytical studies and investigations, and oversight of the position description library. Incumbent may make recommendations for changes in policy or procedures and participate in implementation of those changes. Work requires competence to independently apply judgment and nonstandard applications and systems, solving a wide range of classification and compensation problems. Will be responsible for upholding California State University (CSU) classification standards and conducting position analysis within the guidelines and processes of the CSU system and collective bargaining agreements.
Required Education and Experience:
Must possess the knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience to be fully proficient in performing most or all of the work assignments defined in this position. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
