Job Description


Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

Purpose of the Position:

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) will initially be responsible for the lifecycle of the recruiting needs for Nevada Copper, including but not limited to; planning and fulfilling immediate and long-term recruitment needs, analysis of exempt and non-exempt positions, weekly status reports, workforce communications/announcements, compensation research, establishing relationships with candidates, attending/coordinating recruiting and career fairs. HRBP will also source and screen candidates, plan and schedule onsite / teleconference interviews with hiring managers. Adhering to EEO requirements, standards, tracking and record-keeping. The HRPB will provide an exceptional candidate experience and advance our company brand and culture. This role will evolve and encompass a variety of employee relations responsibilities.

Accountability:

The Human Resource Business Partner reports to the Vice President, Human Resources. The position is based in Yerington, NV.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Talent Acquisition Duties:

  • Provides full life cycle recruitment support with a strong focus on sourcing, interviewing and assessing candidates within the mining industry
  • Identify future hiring needs and working with site managers to develop job descriptions
  • Collaborate with site managers to build specialized recruitment plans aimed at addressing their long-term strategic vision and gaps within their team.
  • Create pre-screening and interviewing guides based on competency assessment and trains/coaches managers on effective interviewing techniques
  • Partners and works closely with other HR team members to ensure a consistent flow of HR services to client departments, managers and employees
  • Complete all aspects of onboarding, including but not limited to, creating and extending offer letters, scheduling pre-employment, coordinating start dates with the training department, remain in constant communication with candidates in pre-employment to create an exceptional onboarding experience.
  • Leverage professional networking, internet resources, social media, direct sourcing techniques, alumni organizations and professional sites to source diverse internal and external candidates.
  • Develop and manage internship program
  • Locate and attend career-fairs to promote the company s reputation as a good employment opportunity
  • Complete all aspects of onboarding, including but not limited to, creating and extending offer letters, scheduling pre-employment, coordinating start dates with the S&H department and other associated departments.
  • Remain in consistent communication with candidates to create an exceptional onboarding experience.
  • Responsible for maintaining active job description data base & ensure signoffs/approvals of department managers for hierarchy & consistency.
  • Identify future hiring needs and working with site managers to develop job descriptions.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to streamline the recruitment cycle.
HRBP
  • Effectively handle employee concerns and escalate as necessary
  • Support initiatives to manage employee relationships in order to achieve a better dynamic across the organization
  • Develop, implement and participate in various HR projects as needed
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Support the site, as needed, with HR related investigations including gathering of information, witness statements, reported findings, determinations, and adhering to progressive discipline program

Knowledge/Education:

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
  • Three to Five (3-5) years experience in recruitment cycle preferable within the mining industry
  • Ability to work independently managing priorities appropriately
  • Demonstrated experience in full cycle recruitment, including proactive candidate sourcing
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with multiple business leaders, and influence decisions related to recruitment and hiring practices
  • Public speaking skill/presentations highly desirable
  • The ability to conduct different types of interviews
  • Exceptional candidate relationship management skills with the ability to build and grow connections
  • Ability to manage time and deliver results for multiple business units with competing priorities
  • Tech savvy and display intellectual curiosity
  • Strong safety behaviors including familiarity with and adherence to all MSHA standards required

Physical Demands:

The incumbent must demonstrate the following physical demands:
  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • Lift and potentially carry up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrists.
Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent work schedule is typically a 40 hour/week schedule. The incumbent may be required to modify this schedule to support the needs of the business. Personal Protective Equipment required for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
