JOB OVERVIEW The HR Generalist (Labor Relation) will assist with labor relations and human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Handles routine labor relations inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements; refers complex matters to appropriate management staff
  • Conducts investigations of employee or Union complaints as assigned
  • Maintains an up-to-date log of grievances, Union requests for information, and disciplinary measures
  • Collects pertinent data and creates or updates metrics and other HR reports
  • Collects information and data to assist in the assessment of cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and past practices
  • Assists with the preparation of documents and records required for disciplinary meetings, investigations, labor-related meetings and/or arbitrations
  • Prepares for and/or assists in the negotiation of agreements with Union representatives
  • Assists in organizing meetings with union representatives and/or stakeholders
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, collective bargaining, and labor relations
  • Performs other duties as
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, LICENSE, and/or CERTIFICATION
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and/or relevant experience
EXPERIENCE and/or KNOWLEDGE
  • At least 2 years or more of related work required in Labor relations
  • Knowledge of wages, collective bargaining, union dues, benefits, healthcare, pensions, and employee management
  • Advance in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
  • Union experience is a plus
SKILL and/or ABILITIES
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish / English
  • Analytical skills to understand labor laws and research, develop, interpret, and administer contracts
  • Negotiation and decision-making skills to settle conflicts and grievances between employers and employees
  • Writing skills to develop proposals and contracts, which often include complex legal information
  • Interpersonal and verbal communication skills to foster strong relationships with managers, union representatives, and employees, as well as present in front of groups
  • Listening skills to understand points made by employees and respond appropriately to issues
  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA Badge from the airport

TRAVEL This position may travel 15% - 20% of the time as needed according to investigations

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
