Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking a housekeeper to perform necessary housekeeping duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary environment within all buildings on the residential school campus at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired. This position directs and instructs student workers in a student work program in the methods and procedures of housekeeping; requisitions necessary housekeeping supplies in a timely manner and maintains security of supplies and equipment; makes beds and changes soiled linens and monitors and reports necessary work orders for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

Serves as Housekeeper for the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired. Directs and instructs student workers in a student work program in the methods and procedures of housekeeping. Requisitions necessary housekeeping supplies in a timely manner and maintains security of supplies and equipment. Makes beds and changes soiled linens. Monitors and reports necessary work orders for assigned areas. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.

Conditions of Employment


----------------------------

Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and perform heavy physical work. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law. All conditions of employment listed are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.

Work Hours:

Mon-Fri, 5am-1:30pm, 30 minute unpaid lunch.
