Job Description

Somaek pays homage to the cuisine Chef/Partner Bissonnette fell in love with while cooking with his mother-in-law, Soon Han-so much that she is officially titled the restaurant's consulting chef. The menu, written in both Korean and English, celebrates traditional dishes and a robust banchan menu. This includes, but is not limited to four different kimchi, seasoned cucumbers and stewed potato. Not to be missed is Cartin's convivial cocktail menu featuring flavor-forward, low ABV libations. This includes the eponymous Somaek, our namesake that is a popular Korean drink made with soju and beer. Hospitality is at the core of this concept and the sister venues next door by BCB3..

Greet and seat guests promptly upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcomed and valued. Manage reservations and waitlists efficiently using RESY. Provide menus and answer any initial questions guests may have about the menu or restaurant offerings. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house area, including the host stand and waiting areas. Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism, striving to enhance guest relations. Assist with phone etiquette by taking reservations or answering questions over the phone as needed. Support serving staff during peak hours by assisting with food delivery or clearing tables when necessary.

Qualifications



Previous host/host experience in a restaurant or hotel setting is preferred. Strong background in food service and hospitality, with an emphasis on customer service excellence. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with guests and team members. Familiarity with POS systems such as Resy, Toast, and 7 Rooms Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining 1attention to detail. Strong phone etiquette skills for handling guest inquiries over the phone. A positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional guest services are essential for success in this role.
