We\xe2\x80\x99re currently looking for a High-Voltage Battery Lifecycle Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

This role will be responsible for technical support of Nissan North America\xe2\x80\x99s EV battery 2nd Life and 4R activities including certification and ensuring the safety and functionality of EV batteries in 2nd life applications. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping define future vehicle and EV battery lifecycle requirements to ensure safety, performance, and value of the EV battery after vehicle end-of-life. Strategic trend analysis of the 4R and adjacent markets will also be an important function within this role.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with Nissan US4R and Global R&D to support 2nd Life and 4R activities including technical support for battery interface and control systems.
  • Manage suppliers and engineering service companies in technical development, testing, certification, and research.
  • Evaluate external partnership opportunities from the technical view
  • Technical, market and competitor trend analysis of 4R business and related areas in the North American region
  • Define requirements for future vehicles and EV Battery system lifecycle to ensure continued performance, safety, and value in 2nd Life, Reuse, Re-manufacturing, Repurposing, and Recycling
  • Define EV battery certification requirements and manage certification to appropriate standards using in-house or vendor labs
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive or transportation engineering and/or large format battery engineering or 2nd life applications
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to deliver creative solutions to complex problems in a \xe2\x80\x9cclean-sheet\xe2\x80\x9d environment without established processes
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, cross-functional environment with other technical and non-technical disciplines both internal and external
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Knowledge of Li-Ion batteries, modules and cells along with Electrical Energy Storage Systems is a plus
  • Experience with or knowledge of certification procedures and standards for large-format batteries is a plus
  • Ability to deeply understand complex technical issues, explain them and make useful recommendations to both technical and non-technical executives.
  • Up to 10% travel required (domestic and international)
