NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs





If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range





$65,300 - $125,400
  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate\'s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.


What Your Job Will Be Like






Do you want to join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for our nation\'s security? If so, you could be the High-Risk Embedded Security Professional (HRESP) (Limited Term Employee) we are seeking to support Sandia\'s mission at our Albuquerque, NM location! On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Proactively engage in assessing security risks and needs for line and program customers in order to provide Members of the Workforce (MOWs) with accurate and consistent answers to security-related questions.
  • Manage metrics and work to resolve customer inquiries and provide new and updated security information.
  • Partner with Deployed Security Professional (DSPs) and with other HRESPs to holistically address and mitigate security risks across facilities, divisions/centers, and program customers.
  • Work closely with all Security Program areas and SMEs, including but not limited to personnel security, physical security, Security Incident Management Program (SIMP), Classified Matter Protection & Control (CMPC), etc.
  • Ascertain the customers\xe2\x80\x99 true needs and situations to understand and mitigate S&S risk.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, summarize, and communicate results, and make recommendations, as needed.
  • Disseminate security-related information to MOWs through effective verbal or written communications.
  • Write and maintain security-related resources and materials, in partnership with Security Program subject matter experts.
  • Understand and promote Operations Security (OPSEC).
  • Lead or support causal analysis, lean events, and other process improvement efforts as well as help managers handle corrective actions.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Security orders and policies.
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an Active DOE Q-level security clearance.


Qualifications We Require




  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Criminal Justice, National Security, Business Management, Sociology, Global Security, or a related discipline pertinent to the customer\xe2\x80\x99s program/project areas of work; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience directly related/applicable to security and logistics work.
  • Must have an Active DOE L-security clearance, or equivalent (such as DOE Q, DOD Top Secret, or SCI) to start.


Qualifications We Desire




  • Applied knowledge of DOE Security Orders and Sandia\xe2\x80\x99s Safeguards and Security (S&S) Programs and Policies.
  • Ability to review metrics for leadership and communicate the health of a program.
  • Proven ability to educate and guide others on Security requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Developing presentations, processes, and communicating these mediums to the company and/or customers
  • Solving security-related actions and issues and providing recommendations
  • Understanding of DOE programs.
  • Understanding of Logistics processes and procedures.

Security Clearance





Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted. Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Position Information





This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia\'s discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
