Job Title: Health Info Service Tech III - Ultrasound

Job Summary: To manage patient databases and review medical records and charts for completeness and accuracy consistent with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements. To provide administrative and clerical assistance to physicians and other medical staff. To provide guidance to subordinates.

Education & Experience

Associate\'s degree in Health Information and one (1) year of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: NA

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of medical records and terminology. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Customer service skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze patient records for accuracy and completeness. Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure that patient information is accurate and complete; identifies missing information; matches patient discharges to correct patient chart.
  • Ensures that all applicable forms are available, properly identified and signed, and entered into the database.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Files and retrieves patient information; delivers medical records and patient reports to designated areas.
  • Utilizes information and transcription systems to support department functions.
  • Provides customer support activities; performs administrative and clerical support functions; mentors subordinates.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
