Overview



The Head of Insurance Strategy will oversee the Insurance Strategy team, and direct the business development, structuring, and management of LGIMA investment strategies with our insurance partners and external insurance/reinsurance companies. The Head of Insurance Strategy will be the primary liaison between LGIMA and its Affiliate Clients, including LGA/Banner (US Insurance), LGRA (US Pension Risk Transfer), and LGR (UK Pension Risk Transfer). Responsibilities



Leadership:

  • Lead the firm\xe2\x80\x99s technical business development and relationship management in the insurance channel, including strategic planning, team management and application of best practices in executing on the firm\xe2\x80\x99s growth mission
  • Create key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Insurance Strategy team and ensure proper communication and agreement to goals and commitments
  • Become an expert in our full range of investment offerings, delivering them to clients to help effectively and expertly solve client problems
  • Raise brand awareness and perceptions of LGIMA through attendance at industry conferences, being an ambassador for the firm
  • Provide clear and inspirational leadership and lead through example by building trust, active engagement and a shared excitement for a client-led business
  • Proficient at attracting, developing, and organizing talent with an eye toward LGIMA\xe2\x80\x99s client focus and culture of excellence; providing coaching and guidance to team members; propagating an \xe2\x80\x98always learning mindset\xe2\x80\x99; developing and facilitating on the job training; and owning any/all other leadership activities required to provide the team with focus on delivering highest quality client experiences, industry knowledge, product knowledge, and technical savvy

Investment Strategy:
  • Develop and oversee internal client strategies to ensure they are optimized for client-specific investment objectives and constraints
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of current investment market, economic issues, building block strategies, and LGIMA firm views, and in-depth specialist knowledge in insurance and reinsurance
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of market instruments applicable to the assigned clients
  • Oversee development of systems for modeling/monitoring risk where appropriate
  • Model the outcomes of different asset and derivative strategies to match prospect/client liabilities or risk objectives

Client Engagement:
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to L&G Group clients
  • Oversee periodic update of client reporting materials
  • Responsible for the management, retention and development of relationships within the affiliate clients
  • Communicate with client and its stakeholders on all areas of our partnership, including investment strategy, performance attribution, and macroeconomic landscape
  • Use technical expertise to explain the outcomes of analysis and obtain agreement on appropriate actions with the relevant parties.
  • Work with the L&G Group entities and LGIMA investment teams to adopt mutually acceptable investment guidelines
  • Oversee production of specialist reporting as required
  • Respond in timely, comprehensive manner to ad hoc client requests

Product Development:
  • Implement the agreed strategies, working closely with LGIMA\xe2\x80\x99s insurance affiliates. Work closely with colleagues in LGR/A and LGA/Banner to draw on the necessary resources to support the administration and financial management of the business.
  • Define and develop LGIMA investment capabilities to meet the expanding needs of our insurance client requirements.
  • Ensure product terms and pricing result in the efficient use of the deployment of Group capital to build the business.
  • Set and implement a distribution strategy for the LGIMA Insurance business, building and maintaining appropriate relationships and partnerships
  • Work with affiliate colleagues to ensure the appropriate regulatory controls and processes are in place and to ensure all financial, operational and conduct risks are identified and mitigated to within Group risk appetite

Culture and Internal Engagement:
  • Maintain and promote client centric solutions-focused culture
  • Work collaboratively with LGIMA internal groups on a day-to-day basis
  • Promote information sharing and leveraging new ideas and best practices across the firm
  • Development and mentoring of colleagues
  • Oversee documentation of meeting notes and follow-up items, incorporating client feedback, in Salesforce
Qualifications


  • Broad knowledge covering investment products, the insurance industry, corporate finance, and relevant law
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and team player
  • 10+ years insurance or investment management experience
  • Bachelor degree required, MBA and/or CFA preferred
