The

Waldorf University Athletics Department

is seeking a

Head Football Coach

with a comprehensive vision, the passion, and the leadership necessary to build and strengthen a program that has faced recent challenges. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to shape and elevate an athletics program that is ready for new direction. We are looking for someone who can inspire progress and create sustainable improvement. Waldorf is a NAIA program and is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). This is a full-time, benefit eligible and primarily 10-month (End of July/first of August through May annually) position with limited time commitments during June and July to complete any ongoing recruitment activities, attendance or representation at orientation day and Athletic department fundraising event(s), as well as monitoring responding to email or messages as needed.
The Head Football Coach is responsible for direction of all phases of the football program in a manner compatible with Athletics Department and Waldorf University philosophies and mission. Responsibilities include program leadership, recruitment especially from the regional area, coaching and player development/supervision, strategic planning, budget management, regulatory compliance, and public relations.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Minimum of three years coaching experience at the collegiate level

Required Qualifications:


A commitment to absolute integrity, a team culture of excellence, accountability and respect with the program and of Waldorf University is critical and required; compliance with all NAIA, GPAC, and institutional rules and regulations. Successful fulfillment of football coaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to: strong organizational, communication and leadership skills; proven ability to recruit quality football student-athletes, instruction of football strategies, fundamentals, coaching skills and psychological skills training; scheduling and coaching practices and contests (practice prep and game prep); mentoring and retaining student-athletes, monitoring annual sport budgets (fiscal responsibility); coordinating travel arrangements for team competition; fundraising; supervising assistant coaches; organize and manage camps and clinics and any other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Must be committed to the development of the student-athlete physically, mentally, spiritually and morally. Ability to organize and motivate student-athletes to maximum performance level in sports and academic achievements. Demonstrated ability to provide supervision for coaching staff including assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and student coaches. Actively engage and promote the athletic program through community outreach with events, marketing, community service, fundraising efforts and public speaking to support program growth and visibility. Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends, nights and regular travel.
