Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts is seeking a Haitian Youth Case Manager to join our multicultural New American Program team. This position will join the Youth Program to provide youth case management and program management assistance to support the resettlement and integration programs for New Americans in Western Massachusetts. This position will report to the Youth Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Perform youth intakes, conduct regular check-ins with clients, and support families with needs related to adjustment in the school system.
Provide school-specific orientation on navigating the US education system and how to connect with school staff and programs. Provide extended and specialized orientation specific to clients' needs including school bus orientation, walk-to-school orientation etc. Provide specialized orientation to newcomer parents to increase self-sufficiency and self-advocacy in the school district.
Assist parents advocating for special education services within school districts, including during Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and early intervention screenings.
Collaborate with external agencies, schools, and employers to address the unique needs of newcomer youth and increase their access to services and opportunities.
Apply for and secure daycare services, Head Start and summer camp opportunities for newcomer youth; train parents and youth on how to access and utilize these opportunities.
Work in collaboration with team members during team meetings, supervision sessions, and shared programming to provide thoughtful care and services for enrolled clients.
Maintain client case notes and documentation in line with requirements of the agency and funders.
Perform all duties within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, and ethics.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Fluency in Haitian Creole is required; Spanish fluency is a plus.
Proficiency with standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and ability to learn program-specific platforms such as case management or data-tracking systems.
Reliable and responsible for attending all appointments and meetings scheduled.
Valid Massachusetts driver's license, with an ability and openness to using personal and agency vehicles. A driving history check will be performed for the final candidate.
Experience working with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds, including individuals who do not speak English as a primary language.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently, to plan and organize work, ask relevant questions, and follow tasks through completion.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.50 - $22.50 per hour
