Position Summary:

Conference Services Assistant: The Conference Services Assistant is an integral part of the Campus Life Community environment, serving as a paraprofessional member of the Residence Life staff. This paraprofessional staff member is charged with creating an open, inviting, inclusive, and safe living environment for residents and summer conference guests.

Duties:


40Conference Services Assistant: Desk and Student Duties: Serve as a role model and mentor to residents and explain, confront and report violations of the Student Code of Conduct and University regulations, if applicable. Participate in on-call duty with other members of the Student Affairs staff. Duty requires that Conference Services Assistant\xe2\x80\x99s stay in the residential community and be available to respond to emergencies and enact connection to resources. Support and abide by University regulations. Facilitate housing check-in and checkout processes throughout the summer. Participate in the summer on-call schedule for housing. Other duties as assigned.Essential
60Conference Services Assistant: Housing Duties: Keep the main hallways clean and clear. Turn over rooms for upcoming reservations. Make sure the entryways of the housing buildings are clear and safe. Make sure all shared spaces (lounge, study room, laundry rooms) are kept neat and clean.Essential
The Conference Services Assistant is responsible for responding to a variety of communal disturbances, conflicts, and emergencies in a direct and appropriate way. Unusual and sometimes unpredictable hours are required due to the nature of this position. This position also requires participating in the on-call rotation during the summer, providing assistance and connection to resources for emergencies or other guest questions, and checking guests in/out of housing. In addition, the position pays $14.17/hr for 8-10 hours per week in on-call and housing cleaning duties including but not limited to cleaning entryway doors, vacuuming hallways and entryways, cleaning laundry rooms, student lounge, study room, storage room, and turning over rooms for upcoming reservations. A schedule for on-call responsibilities and weekly cleaning hours will be created in consultation with the Residence Life Coordinator. Additional payment will be provided for pre-summer training at the $14.17 hourly rate.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Conference Services Assistant\xe2\x80\x99s must possess strong leadership skills, conflict mediation skills, and positive decision-making abilities, and are held to the highest ethical and professional standards. Conference Services Assistant\xe2\x80\x99s must be self-motivated, able to take initiative and work on projects independently, with minimal supervision. However, it is imperative that Conference Services Assistant\xe2\x80\x99s be able to operate effectively in a team-oriented environment, to work collaboratively with other departments as an office representative, and to demonstrate an appropriate level of self-awareness. Critical thinking skills, self-awareness, and the ability to take initiative are paramount.


Preferred Experience:

Preference will be given to individuals who have experience interfacing with the public and working in a college environment.


Required Education or Training:
Successful candidates must will willing and adept at learning job skills after start. Current residence in housing is required.



Salary Information:
This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position, New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 73 (11% geo differential), based on education and experience.
