Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Graphic Artist for our Sibley, IA facility who will be responsible for quality and accuracy in following customer instructions in layout of graphics and type.

Functional Responsibilities

Follow customer instructions and manufacturing orders accurately. Prepare layouts of graphics and type with high quality and minimal waste. Inspect digital files, proofs, and films for accuracy and quality. Maintain equipment and materials used to produce proofs and films. Complete quality monitors, reports, and required documentation. Coordinate with Customer Service and external suppliers to ensure art readiness and proper specifications. Provide backup support for platemaking, film output, and plate storage. Print and hand-fold proofs to confirm proper layout (after training). Manage workflow for process print orders, including complex screening and image requirements. Perform advanced quality control and verification of process print orders. Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required (exceptions at management discretion). On-the-job training with a qualified Graphic Artist or Senior Lead Artist.

Skills

Advanced computer experience with Mac/PC programs. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), RIP software, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of color theory, typography, and visual composition. Ability to: + Perform color correction and separations of process print orders.
+ Build spot color art and process complex graphics.
+ Pre-plan workflow and eliminate rework.
+ Verify quality control of process print orders.
+ Communicate effectively across departments.
