Job Summary:

Raytheon Missiles and Defense - Global Positioning System (GPS) / Inertial Navigation System (INS) engineers and technologies are utilized across all of our programs. Our complement of engineers, scientists, technicians and manufacturing staff in a broad range of disciplines develop innovative solutions from idea conception to finished product. Our expertise includes GPS/INS electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, research and development and extensive GPS/INS simulation capabilities.

The Associate Director / Product Owner is responsible for leading multiple program and research and development efforts within the GPS / INS technical domain. The Engineering programs will work across all product areas in all areas of the product lifecycle (development and production). This position requires an experienced senior technical and business leader with a proven track record of invention, capture, and successful execution in GPS / INS technologies. This Associate Director will be the primary interface with the customer(s) and to senior management in R&D science & technology, planning and executing the program(s). This position is responsible for development of near-term and long-term R&D areas in GPS / INS technologies. Program revenues in excess of $10M annually will be a benchmark of performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate :

  • Work with engineering management and other departments to help staff the program(s) and ensure the timely delivery of products and services in accordance with the contract(s)
  • Developing and executing on strategic plans and technology roadmaps, win strategies for opportunities, and executing advanced demonstration programs that provide new capabilities for the war fighter to include frequent interaction with DoD Customers
  • Effectively interacting at all levels of the business to develop roadmaps to insert the technologies being developed into future products will be critical
  • Identification and qualification of IRAD and CRADA business to meet or exceed company objectives in various mission area(s)
  • Preparing proposals and supporting negotiations for new programs
  • Mentoring early in career engineers on their area of expertise
Qualifications You Must Have :
  • Typically requires a Bachelor\'s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum and 12 years\' of engineering experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and 10 years\' of engineering experience
  • Minimum of 10 years\' experience leading GPS / INS technology advancement in working with program team(s) resulting in the capture of significant or strategic program EMD or strategic program(s) within GPS / INS technologies and demonstrations
  • Experience with military strategic planning methodologies and the associated DoD organizations
  • Experience in aerospace / defense project planning, proposal, and/or program management
  • Experience including any of the following weapon systems areas: simulation, requirements, deployment, and/or operations
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value :
  • PhD in Physics or other scientific or engineering discipline
  • 12+ years in GPS / INS and testing
  • Experience with U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army and/or U.S. Navy research & development (R&D) processes
  • Experience with Government GPS Directorate (GPSD) processes
  • Experience in R&D programs to develop military systems
  • Technical background with experience in systems design and integration
