The Government Operations Consultant I is a core member of the Southwest Florida Aquatic Preserves, consisting of Tampa Bay, Charlotte Harbor and Estero Bay Aquatic Preserves. This position will be located in Punta Gorda, FL at Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves office, consisting of five aquatic preserves in Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee counties.

Pay:

$16.00 per hour - 40 hours/week

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Serve as primary administrative assistant for the Southwest Florida Aquatic Preserves.

Provide administrative support in procurement, purchasing, personnel, travel and training. Assist with telephone coverage, distributing mail, and administrative assistance to the environmental manager and aquatic preserves team. Develop and maintain an accurate filing system, keeping records updated on a regular basis.

Provide support in compiling and submitting monthly vehicle/vessel logs and reports.

Assist with grant and contract tracking and reporting.

Assist in reconciling monthly budget reports, ensuring expenditures are charged to proper organizational and grant codes.

Assist with the coordination and scheduling of vehicle/vessel maintenance and repairs.

Assist with the coordination of scheduling onsite contractors for repairs and maintenance work orders.

Provide assistance in the event of an emergency including pre-storm preparation, post-storm clean-up and other assignments as requested.

Performs other related duties as required.

Must be willing to travel within the region occasionally.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of principals and techniques in administrative and general office practices and procedures; proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe; ability to learn new software programs and implement procedures; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships; understand and apply rules, regulations, and procedures; communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
