The Marketing department creates passion and relevance for the "Dolby Difference" driving sell-in and sell-thru of Dolby enabled devices, services, content, and experiences across multiple constituents - partners, creators, consumers, and developers.

Dolby\'s PR Team supports the growth of the business by driving education and awareness at scale primarily via influential earned media storytelling, crafting of communications, and maintaining the overall brand image.

The Global Thought Leadership Communications Manager will play a strategic role in helping define Dolby\'s global communications efforts to advance Dolby-led storytelling, build our relevance as an innovative entertainment brand and elevate thought leadership globally and domestically. The role will be responsible for defining, building, and driving forward Dolby\'s approach to global thought leadership in partnership with HQ leads and regional country leads. Once built, they will work with the relevant team members to ensure the successful execution of thought leadership campaigns across Dolby\'s different business areas in support of the PR team\'s mission to raise Dolby\'s profile as a leader in immersive entertainment experiences. In addition, the role will also serve as a bridge between the HQ and regional teams to ensure consistency in approach and share best practices across the world to advance Dolby led storytelling and thought leadership. Defining and overseeing global metrics and reporting cadence will also be an area of focus.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer with experience leading and connecting global communications teams. They should be culturally fluent, understand how data and consumer trends can inform topic-driven thought leadership strategy, understand the nuances of PR approaches across diverse continents, and possess strong media relations insights and expertise. The role will collaborate closely with HQ and regional PR leads to understand each local market\'s nuances, media landscape, and respective communication needs to ensure alignment across the globe on strategies that lead to successfully executed campaigns that are culturally relevant and meet our business objectives.

The role will support HQ PR and country leads spanning all areas of Dolby\'s entertainment business.

The role requires a strategic, culturally sensitive, driven, proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable candidate who is comfortable with juggling multiple projects at once.

This person will have frequent interaction with senior executives. Candidates should have experience interfacing with principals and be comfortable acting as an advisor and thought partner. Candidates should also be able to flex their style to optimize their interaction with leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Build Dolby\'s proactive thought leadership muscle from the ground up, consulting HQ-PR leads to ensure alignment with broader product PR strategy and narratives.
  • Partner closely with agencies, global and regional teams to define international communications priorities, refine programming based on results/learnings, and achieve shared goals.
  • Translate complicated concepts into clear, compelling language for audiences ranging from key stakeholders to media to consumers.
  • Identify global proactive storytelling and topic-based thought leadership opportunities to drive brand awareness, affinity, and high-impact coverage globally.
  • Serve as a bridge between the regional leads to share best practices on both sides of the globe.
  • Identifying real-time newsjacking thought leadership moments to insert Dolby into the news cycle to drive brand conversation forward.
  • Define best practices around global communication metrics to showcase efficacy of public relations.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and project-based coverage recaps on effectiveness of international media efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally with partners in marketing, social media, insights and analytics and others to bring ideas to life.
  • Craft communications materials - from bylined articles to pitch/story angles to keynote scripts - ensuring continuity in voice, messaging and thought leadership globally.
  • Understand and manage the needs of multiple stakeholders within Dolby - leading with inclusivity to ensure a collaborative environment; and should be able to \xe2\x80\x9cflex\xe2\x80\x9d their style to optimize their interaction with geo-leaders.
  • Demonstrating a passion for developing innovative, disruptive, and educational communications content.
  • Staying on top of cultural, news/media, industry, market and consumer trends to inform strategic and creative development for moments.
  • You will be the key point of contact for executive stakeholders and the wider global PR team-and you will report to the Head of PR and Social Media.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years\' experience managing thought-leadership and executive communications globally, ideally for consumer tech and entertainment brands.
  • Experience working across geographies and cultures to ensure communications relevance and understanding; familiarity with diverse cultural and social landscapes.
  • Strong media relations skills: a connector with active relationships with U.S. consumer lifestyle, tech, entertainment and/or news media - to drive success specifically with topic-driven thought leadership.
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to organize and manage cross-functional efforts that generate impact and key results.
  • Early adopter when it comes to identifying trends, new media outlets/platforms, consumer habits, opportunities, etc.
  • Collaborative, creative, energetic, flexible, and proactive leader who can positively and productively impact global and regional initiatives.
  • Proven experience in setting up global communications structures, processes, and operational systems to increase efficiencies and improve performance.
  • A deep understanding of the global media landscape and how brands should participate in an authentic way.
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and opportunity.
  • Team player with an exceptional attention to detail, stellar organizational skills and works collaboratively to manage and balance a variety of projects.
  • Affinity for entertainment (i.e., music, gaming, movies/streaming, sports, etc.) and pop culture.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to quickly develop a solid knowledge and understanding of Dolby\'s technologies.
  • Entertainment, music, gaming, sports, and/or consumer technology experience. Bonus points if you also have experience working with developers.
  • Proven ability to creatively problem-solve and achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often on short deadlines.
  • Mix of in-house and agency experience preferred.
  • Based in Los Angeles or New York City metro area preferred.

The Los Angeles Area base salary range for this full-time position is $126,900 - $155,100 plus bonus, equity, and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
