Job Description

Directly responsible for overall management and operation of the Gift Shop in absence and in support of the Gift Shop Director. Delivers a positive shopping experience to UTMC Gift Shop customers by providing excellent customer service. Greets and recognizes customers, promotes teamwork with paid and volunteer staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities

a. Assists in maintaining, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, supervising, and scheduling paid staff.

b. Assigns staff functions, designates duties and assignments as directed by Director or in the absence of Director.

c. Contributes to staff performance evaluations.

Financial Responsibilities

a. Assists with maintaining efficient and accurate methods and systems for gift shop financial operations.

b. Assists with Maintaining accurate and current vendor files, merchandise received records and invoice payments.

Gift Shop development

a. Assists Director in planning and directing space and facility allocations.

b. Assists Director in directing major and minor alteration projects.

c. Assists with coordinating general maintenance of Gift Shop.

d. Assists in planning merchandise display and shop appearance.

Management Responsibilities

a. Assists Director in preparing short and long term annual goals and objectives.

b. Helps Director in developing and implementing policies and procedures of Shop.

Merchandise and Buying Operations

a. Works with the Director in coordinating the quality and types of merchandise that best meets the needs of staff, patients and visitors.

c. Assists Director in maintaining adequate inventory levels necessary to increase sales.

d. Assists in directing year-end physical inventory.

a. Assists in control measures and helps monitor operational budget: supplies, fixtures and equipment.

Experience in Retail Management preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.27 - $25.61 per hour
