  • Provides nursing services to Cath Lab patients, Diagnostic Cardiology unit, and GI/Endoscopy department; sets-up electrical and hemodynamic transducers and amplifiers; records and obtains hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data; and assesses patients during the procedures and delivers therapy. Administer intravenous sedation or analgesia during special procedures and closely monitor patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters.
  • Administer and monitor the effects of medications via intravenous/analgesia, intracardiac, intramuscular, subcutaneous topical, and oral routes during special procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Monitor the patient\xe2\x80\x99s vital signs. Administer oxygen therapy as ordered by the physician. Conduct hemodynamic monitoring as indicated by procedure and policy. Assist in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases. Attend to patient needs during cardiac studies. Defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias without direct medical supervision. Implement emergency procedures, including CPR and defibrillation of life-threatening arrhythmias. Obtain and record hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
  • Develop and contribute to a plan of nursing for the patient\xe2\x80\x99s care.
  • Monitor patient\'s physiological conditions and notify physicians promptly regarding changes in patient status.
  • Prepare patient and equipment for catheterization procedures by preparing the entry site, draping the patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
  • Assist in general endoscopy and fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Transport and aid in the transfer of patients.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
  • Supervision is received from the assigned manager or supervisor.
  • Functional supervision is exercised over nursing and support staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When the primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • Two (2) years of cardiovascular inpatient, acute-care, or invasive procedure RN experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts and holidays and working during inclement weather will be required.
