Two full-time positions available with the Water Department, Pipeline Division located at 2409 East 18th Street
Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. -5:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday 5:00 p.m.-3:30 a.m., Friday-Monday, 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday-Monday, 4:00 p.m.-2:30 a.m.

Responsibilities




  • Plans and coordinates activities of workers in maintenance.
  • Assigns personnel to shifts to operate construction equipment to install and repair valves, hydrants, and pipe.
  • Determines action to be taken in the event of an emergency such as machines, equipment used to re-establish flow within the water distribution system.
  • Interviews and trains staff in their areas of responsibility.


Qualifications





REQUIRES high school graduation and 3 years experience of a progressively responsible nature in construction or maintenance work including 1 year leading the work of general laboring or maintenance crews. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

If claiming military veterans preference points, you must attach a copy of your DD-214 or other qualifying documents prior to the application deadline.

All positions require successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check. Non-residents, if appointed, must establish residency within the city limits of Kansas City, MO within nine months.
