The Divine Group is a vertically integrated development and operations company with a growing portfolio of Fresh Markets, VGO Markets, and next-generation convenience store concepts merging
produce, fresh food programs, and gasoline
into a modern retail experience. Our first location is under construction, with multiple stores in our pipeline.
We are now hiring a high-performing operator to lead our first store as General Manager -- and ultimately step into the
Director of Operations
role as additional stores open across the Upstate and beyond.
Position Overview
This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground level and
build an entire operating system from scratch
. You will be responsible for developing the processes, SOPs, staffing models, vendor relationships, merchandising strategies, and customer experience standards that will be replicated across all future stores.
You will start as the
General Manager
of our first market location. Once we open multiple sites, you will transition to
Director of Operations
, overseeing the performance of all general managers and operational staff.
You will be the single point of coordination for ownership and leadership -- streamlining operations so the CEO only needs to interface with ONE person for store-level performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesPhase 1 - Pre-Opening & Store Buildout
Develop complete operating manuals and SOPs for the new market concept
Build hiring plans, job descriptions, and org structures for staff
Coordinate with vendors for food programs, produce, grocery, and fuel operations
Plan store layout, merchandising flow, and operating systems
Assist with onboarding technology platforms (POS, back office, fuel systems, security, etc.)
Phase 2 - Store Opening as General Manager
Lead all day-to-day store operations
Hire, train, schedule, and manage store staff
Ensure top-tier customer service standards and store presentation
Manage food prep, produce quality, inventory rotation, and food safety
Oversee gasoline operations, fuel contractors, and environmental compliance
Implement shrink control, inventory management, and loss prevention systems
Work closely with the Senior Project Accountant & Financial Analyst for daily reconciliation of tills, deposits, inventories, and margins
Phase 3 - Scaling Into Multi-Unit Operations Director
Oversee multiple store general managers
Implement consistent systems, processes, and KPIs across all locations
Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and coordinate supply chain
Establish performance dashboards and operational reporting
Build training programs to replicate culture and standards
Manage customer experience, store cleanliness, merchandising standards, and food program consistency at scale
Report directly to ownership on store performance, staffing, issues, and expansion planning
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who can immediately lead operations and later grow into regional oversight.
You may be a fit if you have experience such as:
Multi-unit retail or convenience store leadership
Grocery operations or produce management
QSR / foodservice general manager or district manager
Fuel station operations management
Retail store launches, remodels, or operational buildouts
Creating SOPs, systems, and scalable operating structures
Skills & Traits
Strong leadership skills with the ability to hire and develop teams
Deep understanding of food safety, produce management, inventory, and daily operations
Knowledge of fuel operations, environmental standards, or willingness to learn
Highly organized and process-oriented
Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-growing organization
Strong communication skills and ownership mindset
Thrives in startup-like environments with rapid growth and autonomy
Qualifications
5-10+ years of experience in convenience stores, grocery stores, supermarkets, foodservice, or fuel operations
Experience as a General Manager or multi-unit manager strongly preferred
Ability to build systems, policies, and operational standards
Strong understanding of POS systems, inventory management, and vendor coordination
Must be able to work on-site daily and travel between locations as new stores open
Clean background and reliable transportation
